The purpose of this research was to analyze the importance of electronic commerce or e-commerce, which has become a means of subsistence for companies in various economic sectors, which have been strongly affected by the ravages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The drastic change experienced not only by organizations but by the world in general, has led to a globalized use of technologies and forms of digital or distance trade. Therefore, in this article a rigorous analysis of this situation is carried out, with the objective of analyzing why a reliable telecommunications infrastructure and an efficient level of digitalization are crucial to maintain an active economy in pandemic conditions, especially due to the changes that have been taking place in the public and private sectors, with the closing of borders, institutions and businesses, which leads to the search for a solution that fits the current moment.
