The current pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has devastated the world economy due to the policies implemented by a large number of countries to curb the spread of the virus. This economic chaos is forcing society to restructure by implementing new technologies to support this task, such as artificial intelligence. This technology has a positive impact on economic growth due to its ability to automate processes, as it promises to revolutionize the economic sector worldwide in the near future, although with a series of negative effects on the labor sector of the population. Computers with artificial intelligence not only aim to replace human workers in the future, but will be able to access a large amount of information about people and use it for all kinds of purposes, from marketing to health, as well as to have a better direct re-lationship with human beings. In this paper, by means of a bibliometric analysis, we analyze the influence that artificial intelligence has had on society since its diffusion, as well as the great economic impact it has had worldwide during the last years and particularly during the current pandemic situation. As a result, it is concluded that artificial intelligence has great economic potential, at the cost of negative effects at the social level, and that it is a technology with a future, but that it still needs to be further developed to reach its full potential.
