Abstract

Over the years, the actions of companies have had an increasingly negative impact on the environmental balance, destabilizing the environment and, at the same time, the social field. This impact is due to the excessive exploitation of resources and, therefore, to counterproductive effects, a situation promoted by the lack of control of globalization and production. In order to improve, organizations, scholars and trade unions have promoted guidelines related to the reduction of such effects: sustainable development and social responsibility. Both manifest positions involved with the care of the environment and, consequently, the defense of human rights. The intervention of social responsibility in companies allows an optimization for internal functioning, as well as for external effects. Thus, corporate social responsibility is positioned as an activity that seeks to mitigate negative impacts on the environment with the exercise of certain planning, projects and laws (national or international).
